The Commercial Court of Luhansk Oblast issued a ruling on 24 October 2026 requiring the Russian state to compensate a Ukrainian private company for agricultural stock lost during the occupation. The court ordered a payment of UAH 65.36 million, approximately US$1.6 million, to Oliiar, a firm registered in Pustomyty, Lviv Oblast.

The dispute originates from a commercial agreement signed in October 2021. Oliiar contracted to buy 4,700 tonnes of sunflower seeds from Prydniprovske Agrarian Company LLC for the 2021 harvest. The company arranged for Svatove-Ahro LLC to store the entire consignment at a warehouse in Svatove.

By 24 February 2022, the storage facility had transferred 2,592 tonnes to Oliiar. This left 2,107 tonnes remaining in the warehouse. Following the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian armed groups seized the premises. Oliiar did not recover the remaining portion of its purchase.

The court found that the company provided conclusive evidence linking the loss of the crop directly to Russia's armed aggression. The judgment names the Russian Ministry of Justice as the liable party. The compensation amount was determined through an expert valuation of the lost seeds.

Oliiar is led by director Iryna Podoba and was founded by Iryna Zalizna. This decision aligns with a prior ruling by the same court. In that earlier case, the court ordered Russia to pay UAH 51.67 million, or about US$1.25 million, to Trading House Agrokhim LLC for property lost in Svatove and Kakhovka.
