Russia launched a massive aerial assault on Ukraine on the night of November 7, deploying 172 attack drones and 36 ballistic missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the strikes targeted energy infrastructure, residential buildings, and a key bridge over the Dnipro River. The attacks left parts of the capital without electricity, heating, or water.

The Northern Bridge, a primary crossing over the Dnipro, was hit and closed in both directions. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that the blast damaged the road surface, trolleybus lines, and nearby trucks. He released video showing the wreckage and noted that repair crews had begun work. The Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged the strike, asserting the bridge was used to move weapons and equipment for Ukrainian forces.

Power facilities in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions sustained heavy damage. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy identified substations connecting the Rivne and Khmelnytskiy nuclear plants to central Ukraine as specific targets. Additional substations were reportedly damaged in the Vinnytsya, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Zelenskyy posted photos of the destruction on Telegram, urging Washington to maintain consistent support and increase pressure on Vladimir Putin.

"When Russia is trying to plunge Kyiv, a city of millions, and the entire country into a blackout, Ukraine must not be left alone," Zelenskyy wrote. He added that American determination is of great importance in bringing peace closer. In Dnipropetrovsk, strikes on four districts killed one person and injured four others, including an 11-year-old girl, according to the State Emergency Service.

Ukraine continued its own campaign against Russian targets during the same window. The General Staff reported that Neptune coastal missile systems struck JSC Proton-Electrotex in Oryol. Kyiv said the factory produces electronic components for Iskander-M ballistic missiles and cruise missile systems. Oryol authorities confirmed damage to warehouses, production facilities, and three private houses. In Saratov region, a fire broke out at the Saratov Oil Refinery after a drone attack, with Governor Roman Busargin confirming damage to civilian infrastructure and preliminary reports of casualties.

The escalation occurs just days before trilateral negotiations scheduled for November 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi. Interfax reported that Russia's delegation will include Vladimir Medinsky, Sergey Ryabkov, Mikhail Galuzin, and General Staff officials Igor Kostyukov and Yuri Zhigarlovsky. Ukrainian media indicated that Kyiv's team will be led by Rustem Umerov, joined by Kyrylo Budanov, David Arakhamia, Dmytro Lytvyn, and Serhiy Kyslytsia.

Russia has resisted calls for a partial cease-fire, stating fighting will stop only when a comprehensive peace deal is reached. The country has increased attacks on energy infrastructure as winter approaches. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses shot down 411 Ukrainian drones overnight, a figure that has not been independently verified.
