Man United sound out Pavard as Red Devils look to find Maguire replacement

Manchester United is actively pursuing a replacement for their center-back Harry Maguire, and they have set their sights on Benjamin Pavard, the French defender currently playing for Bayern Munich. With Maguire’s contract nearing its end and his reluctance to sign an extension, United is exploring potential options to bolster their defensive lineup.

The Red Devils have reportedly reached out to Bayern Munich regarding Pavard, a versatile defender who can operate effectively both as a right-back and a center-back. His flexibility to contribute in multiple defensive positions has caught the attention of United’s management, as they seek to strengthen their defensive depth.

Pavard’s interest in a move to Manchester United has further fueled the speculation. Eager for a new challenge, the 27-year-old defender seems open to the prospect of joining the Premier League giants. Manchester United, on the other hand, views Pavard as a prime candidate to fill the void left by Maguire’s potential departure.

However, Manchester United is not solely fixated on Pavard. The club has also engaged in discussions with other potential replacements, notably Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice and Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen. Todibo, a 23-year-old center-back, has been on United’s radar for some time, and his availability for a lower fee of around £25 million makes him an appealing option.

Tapsoba, a 24-year-old center-back from Bayer Leverkusen, has also emerged as a contender. While he has an impressive track record in the Bundesliga, with over 100 appearances for the German outfit, his price tag of £43 million might pose financial challenges for Manchester United, who are reportedly operating under budget constraints.

The impending departure of Maguire has compelled Manchester United to expedite their search for a capable center-back. West Ham United and Manchester United have reportedly agreed in principle on a £30 million deal for Maguire. However, the personal terms of the agreement between Maguire and West Ham are yet to be finalized.

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s manager, is keen on reinforcing his defensive options, recognizing the importance of having reliable alternatives to maintain stability throughout the season. The addition of a skillful defender like Pavard, who can seamlessly slot into different positions, aligns with ten Hag’s strategic approach to squad building.

As negotiations continue and decisions are made, it remains to be seen which player Manchester United will ultimately sign to replace Harry Maguire. The club’s interest in Pavard, Todibo, and Tapsoba underscores the comprehensive scouting process underway to ensure the right fit for their defensive needs.

With the summer transfer window still open, Manchester United’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements is an ongoing narrative. The club’s choices will undoubtedly have implications for their performance in the upcoming season, as they strive to maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League and other competitions.
